What Bea is

Bea is the consumer surface of Beacon Spec. The builder is where services register themselves. The registry (coming soon) is the canonical directory. Bea is what your mom installs.

Local-first

Your provider key, your chat history, your skills, your payment cards, your contact data: encrypted on your own machine. Nothing routed through a Bea server.

Voice & chat

Bundled Piper TTS and whisper.cpp. Talk to Bea or type. She replies aloud in a clean local voice. No microphone audio leaves your laptop.

Skills system

Bea uses the Anthropic Agent Skills standard (SKILL.md), adopted by Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, and 30+ others. Write a skill, paste a skill, or have Bea draft one for you.

How it works in one sentence

You ask Bea for something. She asks the Beacon Spec registry which businesses can help. The chosen one's MCP endpoint does the actual work. Bea relays the result and never moves a dollar without your OK.

  2. 2 Discover Bea queries the registry by category, location, capability.
  3. 3 Act You pick one. Bea books through their MCP server.
  4. 4 Audit Every action lands in your local Activity ledger.

Both Windows and Mac builds ship from the same GitHub release. Bea v0.2.0 is the latest. Existing installs auto-update.
